Case: original hard
Gibson L5 Wes Montgomery in vintage sunburst finish, high-grade Spruce top, Maple back and sides, 5-piece Maple and Walnut neck, Ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlays, gold ABR-1 bridge, period correct L-5 tailpiece, 25-1/2 inch scale length.
Other appointments include Gibson’s traditional flower pot inlay and gold Shaller M6 tuners. The pickguard shows slight off-gassing. Please refer to photos.
A former McKenzie River Music employee purchased this guitar new, back when the store was a Gibson dealer. It has spent most of its life stored under a bed and is virtually unplayed.
From the Gibson website:
“The Wes Montgomery L-5CES, built today by Gibson Custom, is built to the same specifications as the instrument used by Montgomery. It is this guitar that Montgomery is most associated with, and the guitar he played almost exclusively on many of his most important recordings of the 1960s.”
The guitar’s single Gibson ’57 classic pickup faithfully captures the sound of the “Patented Applied For” humbuckers of the late ‘50s and delivers a warm, full tone that is sure to please.
Original hardshell case included.
